Use a Cubby Bench to Spruce up Your Office or Child's Room

If you're like me, you're one of those people who have things scattered over every available surface in the house for lack of a better place to put it. Or perhaps you are hesitant to walk into your child's room for fear of what you may trip over or what may fall on your head. Well, don't worry, help has arrived in the form of a cubby bench.

Cubby benches are a great, practical way to store all of those things that you really don't use much but you use them enough not to stick them in the attic or basement. A cubby bench is a bench that usually has three open cubbies for storage. You can leave the cubbies open or find baskets that fit to slide in cubby and not show so much clutter. The great thing about a cubby bench is that if you are running short on places to sit, two grown ups or three small children can sit comfortably on one.  You can leave the bench solid, or you can purchase an inexpensive bench cushion to make it more comfortable.

A cubby is a space saving addition to any child's room. If you buy baskets to put in the cubbies, you can put everything from clothes to toys in the baskets. Left open, a cubby could be used for stuffed animals or books or just about anything that you would choose to put in them. Kids will love the fact that they can sit down on the bench with their friends or hide their secret treasures in the cubby holes.

You can get a bench for a few hundred dollars brand new, and they made from a variety of wood. You can get them made from oak, cedar, maple or even teak wood. A cubby bench is easy to take care of, too.  Just polish it with a wood polish such as Pledge, or wipe it down with Murphy's oil.  They are durable, well built and long lasting to give years of pleasure and storage.
